Homemade Christmas Ornaments- a great project for the kids!

Kim's adorable Christmas stockings!
What a fun way to keep the kiddos occupied during Christmas break...and a great way for them to make a neat Christmas gift!

Ingredients and photos courtesy of Kimberly Howard (Monroe, GA)

All you need is flour, salt, and water!
We added 1/2 tablespoon of salt to every tablespoon of flour then added water little by little until it was about the consistency of play-doh.

Shape as desired then place a hole to thread the ribbon through. (Suggestion: make the shapes no more than about 1/4" thick so they're not too heavy).  Place on a cookie sheet lined with either aluminum foil or wax paper and bake at 250 until dry. Flip about every 5-6 minutes. Once cooled, paint and decorate as desired then thread with ribbon to hang on your Christmas tree (or give as a gift!!).

Kim gives some great examples in her photos:

CUTE Snowcouple!
The ornaments can be painted and sealed once cooled.
Thanks, Kim, for the great idea!!

Fall is less than a week away!

September 23rd is the first day of Fall this year. Our local weather is beginning to cool off (phew!), festival schedules are starting to pop up and the Halloween costumes are in stores now. Time to think about Trick-or-Treats and Thanksgiving turkey.

Soon there will be piles of leaves to play in and Jack-O-Lanterns to carve. Treats will be baked to warm the heart and the home. The sweaters and boots will come out of hiding.

DATES TO REMEMBER:

Monday, October 31st: Halloween
Sunday, November 6th: "Fall Back" (Daylight Savings Time ends)
Thursday, November 24th:Thanksgiving

Happy Fall, Loganville and Walton!
